Actos is used to treat Type II diabetes, by working to increase the body’s sensitivity to insulin and decrease the amount of sugar stored in the liver. Concerns about the medication emerged after many patients reported several negative side effects such as kidney disease, bladder cancer and congestive heart failure.
Because of these side effects, several Actos lawsuits have been filed against Takeda and Eli Lilly – the companies who market and manufacture the drug. Patients and family members of patients diagnosed with problems argue the pharmaceutical company failed to properly warn consumers about the medication’s risks and for prioritizing profit over patient safety.
