The Essure Permanent Birth Control System has been on the market since 2002. While many women understand the complications that coincide with starting birth control, the risks associated with the Essure system have been chronic, irreversible and sometimes life-threatening. While its manufacturer, Bayer, claims the device is nearly 100 percent effective at preventing pregnancy, thousands of women who have used the device have reported severe injuries.
Many women have filed lawsuits claiming Essure caused them severe trauma (due to discrimination and negligence), and the manufacturers of the device failed to inform them of the risk, leading to pain and injury.
