The blood-thinning Xarelto medication has been on the market since 2011 and is typically prescribed to prevent blood clots, reduce the likelihood of strokes and treat deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. But the drug has been linked to serious side effects like, irreversible internal bleeding, reduced platelet levels and brain hemorrhages.
Patients who have taken Xarelto and experienced any of the symptoms above filed several lawsuits against its manufacturers. The lawsuits claim the manufacturers of Xarelto – Bayer and Johnson & Johnson – misrepresented the safety of the drug, failed to warn patients of the potential side effects and continue to sell a defective drug.
